Michelle "Liv" Livek Garner is an Associate Professor of Fine Arts in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Winthrop University. She earned her Ph.D., Educational Specialist, and M.Ed. in Art Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a B.S. in Art Education from Culver-Stockton College. Her teaching spans K-5 and 9-12 art education, graduate and undergraduate courses, community enrichment programs, and art leagues.

Livek’s research examines how Artist/Teachers navigate educational policies written for tested subjects, using artistic practices to reinterpret compliance. She developed the TouchStones Project, a nationwide social practice art initiative, and has presented her work regionally and nationally, including as an invited Keynote speaker for the Florida Art Education Association.
